I maintain a part of my website about the historic Skyline Trail (the predecessor to the Pacific Crest Trail)..... recently, I was contacted by an eBay seller who had found a pristine, unused 1921 Oregon Skyline Trail map at an antique store in Mexico City! I won the auction. The 12-fold map opens to 22x17 inches, with several pictures and lots of quaint, informative text..... I should have the map in hand about April 9th, hopefully in time to show it off at the 2005 Annual Trail Fest in Portland put on by the PCT Association.

This 1921 map may be an excellent resource to have copies of.... Interested folks are welcome to contact me via this discussion group, or directly at brucej@oregonphotos.com

I live in Canby, and work in Molalla.

  • The response to our search for old Skyline Trail information has been great.

We have a copies of the above already.  Indeed a great map.  The route does appear to have changed every ten years or so in our district for reasons I could only speculate at this time.  The later moves had to do with getting stock out of the meadows and springs but the earlier moves I don't know the reasoning at this time.  I suspect people wanted trail rather than road to walk as the road became busier and further extended.

    Thanks a bunch.

Could you post time and location of trailfest?
