Well, we went down Twin Springs yesterday and cleared the trail about 1 mile, until the damn lopper blade went ZING and flew off into the bushes.  The 1st mile of the trail is very easy to follow now, and someone was there fairly recently (100 bucks says it was Mr. D), because the route was flagged with orange tape and some sawing was completed.  Had the baby on my back, and she was being a major pain in the ass the whole day, so we only made it about a painful mile.  That trail really goes to hell in a hurry, with unstable soils and trees growing up into the tread.  I did see an old FS sign directing one to Hambone, pretty cool.  Also an abandoned 1/8 mile trail at the camp goes down to the spring.  That camp is very interesting, any idea of the history?  The former trail from the Clackamas River to the Plaza Guard Station was converted to a road in the very late 20s, so I'd imagine the CCC had something to do with the campground.  I'd imagine the Plaza Creek trail was constructed about the same time.  This is a very interesting area, but quite neglected.  Given the quantity and quality of the trails in the area, I'm not sure why.  The area is dripping history, and it deserves a better fate.  If anyone has further info, I'd love to hear it.
