I believe it parallels one for a short while.

Looks like Old Bissell Trail on the side of Old Baldy to me.

You are correct! I followed pablo's report since Old Baldy is now viewless to a nice open viewpoint pretty close to the summit. I may or may not write a trip report about the recent adventure I had on the Bissell and White Iris Traill out there sometime.

Just some info: the Bissell, the west end of the Old Baldy and the north half of the White Iris trails are in the new Eagle Creek Addition to the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. I know it may take the FS some time to figure out the new wilderness boundaries on the ground, let alone update our most current 2002 map of the Clackamas River district. In the mean time, we have on this website the new wilderness areas and additions to older wilderness areas in the map section. I have drawn the new wilderness areas on my current district map so that I can have an idea where the boundaries are out on the trail. If your are clearing trail it is a good idea to know where you can use a chainsaw or a crosscut saw in cutting out logs.

I should have mentioned that the trails marked in orange on the map were trails that were cutout in 2011, the last time I was out on those trails.

Interesting, as perhaps the new wilderness addition could explain the decommissioning of the upper reaches of 4614 at the new wilderness boundary. That'd also explain why I saw a wilderness boundary sign at the Bissell TH last year, now removed from what I assume is one of the increasingly evil illegal dirtbike riders on the trail.

That bottom section of the Bissell trail between the two roads was an ATV route back in 2011, that's why I left the blow down above the 4614, but cleared it the rest of the way to Old Baldy. We have the same ATV problem up at Huxley Lake in the Roaring River wilderness.

I tell you what Dylan. Why don't you go ahead and put up another picture since that one was so easy.

Funny you mentioned that, as one of the first hikes I took in the district was down to Huxley Lake almost 2 summers ago. Unsurprisingly, I encountered dirt bikers once I got down to the lake. They told me they came from the lower trailhead since the old Lookout Springs Campground has been heavily bermed. At that time, I had no idea what the laws were surrounding offroading. Maybe they didn't either, but now that I think about it, they took off pretty fast after I chatted them up.. What an eroded mess of a road the OHV's turned that upper stretch of the Huxley Lake trail into. yellI remember vowing to never return unless I found where the lower TH is or if the tread was reworked into switchbacks from Lookout Springs.

I'm just going to make a guess and say either Rho Creek or Tumble Creek along the Rho Creek Trail?

The last time I hiked into Huxley Lake from the bottom end a couple of years ago we also ran into dirt bikes ripping up the trail. Before leaving we drug a few logs back onto the trail. Kind of counter productive to clearing trails, but how else are we to deal with low info forest users who don't know what a wilderness is.

Have not hiked Rho Ridge yet due to the alleged spooky factor on that one. Hint is that the trail crosses many creeks as it ascends.

It's hard to enforce rules when all the signs get shot up so quick, I wonder how the no shooting order is going over on 4610?

Have not heard of the "spooky" factor on Rho Ridge. I have felt a spooky feeling at Skookum lake - I guess that is a bigfoot hot spot.

I'm at a loss for your photo - that is pretty neat, though!

Yes! Bonus points for naming which creek it is.

I definitely can see how one can sense that there. Everytime I go there, I've been startled by some sort of Heron that spooks me with how loud it dives into the water to fish.

And whoops, I meant Rho Creek!
