Well I don't think a mixed up person would want to "find" it's self on this trail.

OK, I guess we need a clue.  In this photo, if you look closely, you will see old fenceposts.  There was a fence that appears to have been on one side of this trail a long time ago.

A fence?

You must be in grazing allotment country. Maybe near Lemiti Guard Station?

If it was not a fence, those posts looked EXACTLY like fence posts. It is hard to see in the photo, but to the right is an open area.

You are a bit too far north.

A second clue - this section of trail is VERY near a road.

I think you are at Olallie Meadow, just north on the old road that parallels the new.

I recall indication of fencing at Olalile Meadow. It may have been fenced at one time.

Close enough!  We weren't on the old road, but we were on what I think was the old Skyline trail where it entered Olallie Meadow.  It is just thru the trees from where that outhouse is at the campground.  You can see a few blazes and recognizable tread for quite a ways.  We found probably at least half a dozen old fence posts - some in the dirt, some still standing.

Your turn to post another photo!

This distinctive tree stands (or perhaps now lays) along one of our trails, not at the coast.

Wow, I'm pretty sure I would remember a tree like that.  Is this a current trail or an abandoned trail?

I hope it is still a "system" trail.

It is not in The Bull.

You have the mountain part right. But you need to head east.

OK, since no one else is guessing, I'm going to make another stab.  Hawk Mountain?  That looks like it would work, but I never remember seeing a tree like that up there.

You cab get there by trail from where you are.

I'll make a guess - up a little south of Mt. Lowe

That was an excellent guess Byron. Precisely correct.

There is a small area of high alpine flora up there. Krumholz type stuff.

Your turn to challenge up next.

I couldn't remember that exact tree, but I remember ones like it south of Mount Lowe. Hence it was a guess.

The long-abandoned trail in this picture crosses this valley just in front of the isolated Alaska cedar that is left of center. By this point the trail is already within the Wilderness area.

You can see high-water-mark horizontal-oriented woody debris in the foreground.
