Helped clear trail #541 to Fish Creek Mtn summit. Packed snow at 4000 ft about an 1/8 mile before junction to High Lake. Summit had about 6-8 ft of snow on top, but trail from junction to summit was mostly clear of snow because it follows the ridge. The trail down to the lake hasn't been cleared yet because of heavy snow that hangs on in that basin. Probably towards the end of next month before we get back up to clear the trail into the lake.

The snow wasn't stopping hikers, for we met a group of five who were planning on spending Sunday night at High Lake. I can't blame them from wanting to get away from all the people camping along the highway down in the Clackamas River canyon.

  • Is the trailhead to Fish Cr Mtn well marked? How do you get to the trailhead?
    • Re: Fish Creek Mtn (#)

    • No, not really. There may be a ribbon. But, if you follow the directions from the trail index entry for the trail, and, if you have a District map, you should be able to find it.

There is some snow at the summit and the trail down to High Lake is still under several feet of snow.
