  • Squaw Lakes/Twin Springs - Accessible???

Has anyone made it there yet this season?  Is there snow to contend with or is everything clear?

thank you!  According to the Forest Service the area received 3" of fresh snow last night, snow level now down to 2000'....

    Squaw Lakes/Twin Springs - Accessible???

  • Last night's snow was slush and melting fast this morning at the highpoint on 4614.  There may be a little snow on 502 at the saddle below Squaw Mountain (there was deep pack there last week) but the rest of the way to Twin Springs and down to Squaw Meadows should be clear of snow.  All of the Fanton trail has been cleared.  We hope to clear the Old Baldy end of 502 this week for the Holiday hikers.
It appears that Rock Lakes will not be available this weekend.  Bull of the Woods (Dickey Peaks), maybe.
Pansy Lake and Dickey Creek are available.

    • I was going to call the ranger office today to check on the Hawk Mountain trail.  I went up there about 3 weeks ago, and got stopped at Graham Pass due to about 18" of snow on the road past that.  I was trying to get to the southern tip of the trail at Cachebox Meadow.  I doubt that much snow has melted in 3 weeks, but thought it would be good to ask.

Does anyone know if the southern trailhead is accessible yet?  Has anyone made it to Cachebox meadow?

      Thanks

      Rob

    • Excellent info, thank you.  I'm hoping to camp somewhere and rendevous with a couple people and don't want to send em' on a snow filled wild goose chase!

The Dickey Creek trailhead is actually a pretty nice place to camp for a parking lot, tho it does get busy in the summertime.

That's weird but funny, all the places in the Clacky and we wind up going to the same area right after each other!
