Does anyone know if there are areas to camp at Silver King Lake?  I'm looking at possible backpacking trips for this summer, and I'd kind of like to camp at Silver King Lake one night if there is a place to do that.

    Thanks

  • Hi Rob,

I haven't been there but the Hidden Wilderness Book, Revised pg 28 says there are 4 unimproved camp sites.  It sounds like a great trip, but then any trip is sounding better than this dose of cabin fever.

    • Thanks, Bill

I took a look through that, but didn't see it.  I got a chuckle from the creek name....Howdy Doody Creek....

Thanks much!  I showed it to my daughter last night, and she was typically un excited (teenager).

See my other post about what I did/saw today.

          • There is at least one campsite when you first get to the lake.  I was in there about four years ago and saw it although I didn't camp there.  I was just looking for a chance to take a quick swim and didn't do any exploring beyond that.  Sullivan in 100 Hikes only mentions the one campsite (see Whetstone Mtn hike), but that doesn't mean that there aren't more.  I do remember that it was really brushy in that area.

            • Thanks for the info and the pictures!  I think that sounds like a good weekend backpacking trip for me and my daughter.  Silver King Lake and Twin Lakes.....
