  • Olallie country access and Jeff Park

I've been saddled, at the last minute with responsibility for planning a two night backpack trip this weekend commencing Friday. the guys I am going with want to stay close to town (in spite of my warnings that it is bug season and East would be better). And in spite of the bug warnings, they would like to be close to water - a lake or better, a stream.

Does anyone know if the Whitewater trail to Jeff Park and the Park itself are open of snow yet?

Likewise, is there access to the Olallie country? If so, how far up toward Horshoe lake can one get by vehicle?

And I am open to suggestions for a destination. Keep in mind though, that some of teh knuckleheads I am going with will be driving up Saturday AM and so I need an idiout proof trail head.

    thanks, Simon

  • I've learned that the road to Olallie is open as far as the lake but the USFS had nothing further on that. Is Horseshoe accesible?

Likwise, the Whitewater trail to Jefferson Park is open but the Park is reported to have 6 - 12 feet of snow still. Anyone been in there this season?
