Note: This trail was damaged in the Bull Complex Fires.

The Mother Lode Trail 558 is a major connecting trail though the heart of the Bull of the Woods Wilderness Area.  It connects with the Pansy Lake trail on the North end and the Elk Lake Creek trail on the South end.  The Twin Lakes trail joins it about midway.  There are several really nice campsites along the trail.  The trail Info Sheet does a good job of describing the highlights.

This trail has been impacted by fire and may have challenging areas to traverse.  Use caution.

Mother Lode Mountain was named for the Mother Lode Mine nearby.1
