Elk Lake Creek Trail Elevation Profile – South to North

Note: This trail was damaged by the Bull Complex fires.  The north end of the trail has burned twice in the last 12 years.  The north end of the trail is closed about a mile past the first creek crossing due to damage from the Bull Complex fires.

Elk Lake Trail 559 is the major north-south trail that traverses the east side of the Bull of the Woods Wilderness area.  It crosses Elk Lake Creek 3 times and a few minor creeks.  The Elk Lake Creek crossings will require you to get wet almost anytime during the year.  During the higher water months, the crossings can be especially challenging.  This area has been impacted by fire damage and may have challenging areas to traverse.  The trail info sheet does a good job of describing the highlights of this trail.
