This spot is close to the switchbacks off FR4550, quite a bit below the SF Mtn trail at this point. Don, I think you and Donovan actually found this segment first.

I thought that the CST started at the old ranger station?  Don't both trails take off from there?  SFM continues south, and the CST kind of heads SE? Anyway, here is my next posting.  This photo was taken from a well known abandoned trail in the district.  Where was I?

How about Sounds of Two Rivers Trail?  That last photo I thought was the trail going down to the Cold Springs  guard station from the 4540 road which would have been the SFM trail, because Brian was talking about a spring nearby.

We have a winner!  Donovan was right, that was too easy. Brian's photo (I think) was taken just above the 4550 road - that section was past the clearcut below the old guard station which would definitely put it on the CST, not the SFM trail.  I think he found a short segment of the trail in uncut timber above the 4550 road.

I will have to get back to you on a photo to post.  Yeah Donavon and I flagged a section of the CST between the clearcuts the day before I showed you guys the whereabouts of the CST. So that was what Brian found. Don

We have a winner! I had to check my photos and it was taken back in May 24, 2009. There wasn't any snow all the way up the trail until we got to the very top and then there was a 3-4' snowdrift. I used to always find a snowdrift or two on the trail down to the lake on Father's Day weekend when my son and I would hike in to fish.  So Dylan, you get the job of posting another photo from a trail in the district.

I thought that view of Mt. Jefferson and Olallie Butte was pretty unmistakable, with the Clackamas far below. We're definitely overdue for at least a normal winter after these past two. The east side of the mountain down to High Lake seems to be notorious for holding snow in a typical year.  What (abandoned) trail am I on?
