What trail am I on?
R
OK, I'll guess the Whetstone trail? Loos somewhat familiar, I know there are rocky areas with scrubby trees on part of that trail.

Rob you are correct. The photo was taken about a mile or so west of where the Bagby Trail comes into the saddle to the west of Silver King Mtn. So you get to post the next photo. You might want to check your spellchecker, for some of your words are looking a little foreign to me. Don

Don, If I'm reading your description correctly. Am I correct in saying this view is of the Battle Ax Creek drainage?
Not getting too many hits on this one, so I thought that I would post another photo taken from the same spot as the others only facing maybe more to SE then south. Maybe this will get the brain cells working and think :"Hey, I have been there".

Kirk you are right, that is Battle Axe in the background. I think Rob has already given the correct answer for the trail, being on the Whetstone Trail. I knew once I put that photo up, people would figure out which trail I was on.

OK, here is a new one. Hopefully it isn't too easy. This is a campsite that is just off an existing trail in our district. It is not in a wilderness area.

D
Good one, Rob!
I have no clue where the h#** you are depicted in this photo. All I see is a small creek with some scrawny firs, moss and some small tufts of bear grass.
I think you are lost, but I have been known to be wrong.
Don
R
Ok, I thought it would be easy. This is JUST off a reasonably well used trail in the district. That creek follows the trail for quite a ways. You can see the campsite from the trail.
D
Everyone I walk by there with will say, "Wow, what a great place to camp. I'll have to do that someday." But it goes largely un-used.
D.
D
I am going to take a guess. Is it the Rho Creek Trail?
Don
R
Not the Rho Creek trail, but you are thinking correctly. This trail is farther north and this creek follows the trail closer, at least for parts of the trail.
Oh, and by the way, I've never been lost.....I've temporarily not known where I was for a short time, but never lost....
K
How about Eagle Creek Trail #501? It's definitely north of there and along a creek.
D
Could it be Old Baldy, between 4614 road and Squaw Mtn?
R
Don, you are closer than Kirk.....Zeroing in on the mystery trail campsite
D
I meant to say the Fanton Trail. I have yet to hike that segment from where the Fanton Trail connects with Old Baldy and west to the 4614 in a saddle on the ridge, where the new wilderness boundary comes in.
R
Don, you are correct. It is on the Fanton trail, not too far from where it meets 4614. There is an old landing there and it takes off up to the Old Baldy Trail. Somewhere in that section is where this campsite is. It isn't too far from that landing, probably less than a mile.
I've done exactly what Donovan said - I always thought that would be a great place to camp, but have never camped there....
Your turn, Don.
D
Here is a photo of a trail that I hope won't be too easy to figure out. It is a cuurent district trail, and is not in a wilderness area.

R
I'm pretty sure I know this one, but I've not been on the trail in the early season (as it appears when this was taken due to the flowers). I'll let someone else have a shot, and if no one else tries in a day or two, I'll take a guess.
K
Well, I'll take a shot at it. The photo looks like it was taken along a ridge. So I'll guess it's the Rhododendron Ridge Trail?

Kirk, I have never hiked the Rho Ridge Trail in the early summer to catch the wildflowers in bloom, but hope to some day. I always seem to be in that area in the late summer or fall. You will have to look elsewhere in the district to find the trail I posted. The trail was part of a much longer trail back in the day, but this segment has been spared and is still enjoyed by those who hike it's path.
