What trail am I on?
Z
Here is an early spring photo taken from a trail in a wilderness area.

I have to apologize to those of you who were trying to guess the Hillockburn trail I posted earlier. I guess I had a dyslexic moment and said N/NE and I should have said N/NW. I can't tell my left from my right sometimes, either.....
Sorry..... Now that I saw my mistake, I realize why everyone had a hard time figuring it out. I thought I gave it away with the last clue.

Zack: That doesn't ring any bells fof me. Any hints you care to give?

Crickets......

Sorry... Went camping over the holiday soon after posting. This photo would be easily recognizable without the snow. It is not in one of the new wilderness areas.

Was the picture taken FROM the trail or ABOVE the trail? It kind of looks like you can see a trail in the middle of the photo. Is that the trail in question?
D
It kinda looks like the way up out of Pansy Lake up to the ridge.
D.

Picture was taken from the trail. No other part of the trail is in the picture. Donovan is on the right track, wrong trail.
D
Would that be the Bull of the Woods Trail # 550?
Z
So close...if you can zoom in, you might notice something in the background mountains.
D
Is that the Dickey Creek trail?
Z
Yes sir. Nicely done. You're up.

That is the section of trail right before you get to Big Slide Lake, isn't it? I was thinking that might have been the place, but I didn't remember it being so high up on the slide area. Although when you posted the clue about zooming in on the distant peak, I saved the photo and saw the name and I knew what it was.....Great photo! Was it really taken in March?
D
This is a current District trail, but not in a wilderness.

D
Okay, maybe a hint or two would be helpful.
How about this? This trail goes uphill. Unless, of course, you start from the top and go down. And if you do start at the top, you'll come across this stream crossing in less than half a mile. Go another half a mile or so further downhill and you'll cross a good gravel road. Then there are no more road crossings until you get to the lower trailhead.

I was going to guess it was somewhere in the Olallie Lake area - those trails are notorious for being rivers in the spring and fall, but I don't recognize it...

To me, the flora doesn't look right for Olallie. I'll make a guess. How about the Rhododendron Creek Trail?

Good guess, Kirk. It's the Rho Creek trail, not too far from the remains of the old guard station.

The photo was taken just before Big Slide Lake, I am pretty sure I was on the trail, but in that depth of snow it was difficult to tell. The lookout is somewhat visible in the distance. I will have to watch what file names I give the photos on future postings.... Photo was taken in March, gogeous day, I was pretty impressed at two backpackers I ran into who camped overnight at an ice/snow covered Big Slide Lake.

So that is why I don't recognize it! I've not been on that trail past the upper road crossing! Need to add that to the list....
