What trail am I on?
K
Okay, here's a picture taken on a trail in the district. For some of you, the picture may jog your memory and you won't need any other clue than this picture:

Never seen that, guessing it signifies the year it was cut?

BrianEdwards said Never seen that, guessing it signifies the year it was cut? That's what I was thinking too. Not too far from this cut log was another that had "07" cut into it. Here's another clue: one end of this trail is near a river and the other is near a ridge.
B
Cripple Creek?
K
BrianEdwards said Cripple Creek?Nope, try the other side of the river.
B
The closest would be the trail that went up to Fish Creek Divide, High Lake and Fish Creek Mountain.

Rhododendron Creek trail?
K
Doug Firman said Rhododendron Creek trail?Ladies and gentlemen - we have a winner!! I thought that "big" clue I gave would get you to the right trail. You know what's expected of you now, right?

This trail is not in a wilderness.R
Is that the eastern part of Old Baldy? It looks like the rocky part above Squaw Lakes.
D
No, it's not. It's farther east than that.
R
Rho Ridge?
K
This photograph strikes me as Burnt Granite. But I could be mistaken.
D
Kirk, you're not mistaken. It is Burnt Granite.

Speaking about Burnt Granite, that is one trail that needs a lot of help. Bob and I hiked up from the 4650 trailhead up to the saddle at 4500' last Sunday and started to get into some snow. The snow wasn't the problem, all the down trees and rhodies were. I don't think there has been any maintenance on that trail since Donavon was up there last. There is a die off of the pines probably due to mountain pine beetle, that has increased the amount of down trees. We must have crossed 100's of down trees just up to the saddle. The last time I was up there 4 years ago with Rob and Kirk, I think we ran into a dozen or so of down logs. There is a trail wanting some advocates.
