What trail am I on?
B
Map won't open on my phone, but isn't Pot Creek nearby to the east?
D
Too far east.
B
Oak Grove butte trail?
D
Not the Oak Grove Butte Trail either! There's only a couple of trails left.
B
How about the little section of fainter trail upstream from Austin and Granite Creek on the north side above the trail that is close to the river? Heading East it starts just about equal with (straight south) of Oak Grove Butte.
D
Bingo! I call it the Upper Clackamas River Trail, not to confuse it with the trail between Fish Creek and Indian Henry. There is more left of the upper trail due to the road wiping out most of the lower trail. I had only been on that trail once about 4 years ago, but there were blazes most of the time. The tread is a lot narrower and fainter then the lower one which was a more like a highway. There is more of the trail further up river and that dotted "way trail" is there also, but not the ridge as shown on the map.
Brian, your turn to post something.

Donald Presley said Brian, your turn to post something.Abandoned trail in district, not CST

D
That looks like so many abandoned trails in our district when you first come upon them, I hope it looks better since you discovered it. So is this trail in one of the wilderness areas in our district?
Don
B
Not in a wilderness, the name of the trail means 'to go astray'

Wow, I go away for a day and the forum goes crazy!!!!
I was thinking Don's trail was on the upper Clackamas River. Some day I need to hike that - maybe this winter.
I have to excuse myself from Brian's photo, for I know exactly where it is. I was with him when he took the photo. But I have to say it was a cool find....
B
Been 'wondering' where you were Rob
B
Checking the weather for this trail is easy...
D
Does it go right over the top?

B
We found it at the top, yes
B
BTW, my post to rob with the smiley has a big clue...

BrianEdwards said Been 'wondering' where you were RobYou must have been "wandering around" wondering where I was, huh?

My problem is I don't get out much anymore and I'm out of pictures so I can't act on the powerful clues for fear of winning.
I really will have to get some more wandering around in next season.
Speaking of which, do you ever in these wintery times wander what's going on up in those lofty freezing heights? Everything sealed up and hoping to survive?

Me, Rob, & Kirk wondered around the peak before kirk found the trail.

I don't know what just happened, but the website didn't post my posting, but reposted Donavon's. I was trying to quote Donavon's "fear of winning" due to lack of photos to post. I've exhausted my supply of photos for the main reason I don't take a lot of them in the first place or not at all. I have been seating on my hands the last few days waiting for someone else to name that trail.
