Not Fish Creek, though you are getting closer.

Just aren't that many spots through a slot like that. But my new guess would be on Baty Butte Trail, between the Guard Station site and the old trail down to Lost Creek?   D

You are VERY close now, but it's not Baty Butte. Yet another place I need to see this year....

Matt: How long ago was the photo taken?
D
Well let's see. There is a small slot that drops into Skookum Lake? D.

Bingo. Rob: Photo was taken November 23, 2008. Before the huge snows we got that winter I remember thinking it was crazy I could hike to the top of a 5500 foot mountain in late November.

This is on a trail in a new Wilderness.

I've only been on that trail a couple of times, but is that Shellrock lake in the background?  So this would be the Shellrock Lake trail?
D
No, not Shellrock. Not quite as overrun.   D
D
Is it the trail that skirts Middle Rock Lake?

That is indeed the main camp at Middle Rock Lake. The trail along the lake and up to Upper Rock Lake starts here. Your turn!   Donovan

This trail is not in a wilderness area.

That was a funny little sale. A pumpkin grab I guess. But I must say, the paint was helpful for those of us who dug it out later.   D.
D
Isn't that the bottom end of Cottonwood Meadows Trail where someone painted blazes on the trees.
D
It is.  Your turn.
D
This is a current district trail and it isn't in a wilderness area.

You must go upriver a ways.

Wow! Nobody else even wants to guess. This trail is one of our low elevation trails that stays fairly clear of snow. The picture was taken the week before Christmas this last year. There were 3-4 logs across the trail then, but have since been cutout by volunteers. Don

Well, the only other low elevation trail I know very well is Riverside, but it just doesn't strike me as being that trail...
