Not sure what you're after there Chief, but I would say it's between the trail head and the lake.   D.

It is actually further along, heading up to S. Fork Mtn.  Technically, "trail not maintained" per the big sign, but this is no longer true as I have maintained the sucker. Your turn again!

fh000005.jpg OK then. What trail is he on? Trees kinda look planted, clue.   D.

Is that Hillockburn?
D
Isn't that Charles in the distance bringing up the rear? I must disqualify myself from this one, for I believe I was the one who took the photo. Planted trees in a wilderness! I have seen stranger things. Don

A good trivia question. When is a plantation a pristine wilderness?   A. When it's within 50 miles of Portland. B. When it's less than 100 years old. C. When the elusive charlesticus erectimus can be spotted. D. All the above.   Don2

Hey Don2, you are having way too much fun on this one. I know the postings of late have been slim to none, so I guess that gives you a free license to go where you have never gone before. Most people don't know that the lastest wilderness inclusions in our district have some paved roads and even clearcuts included in them, not what you would normally think of as wilderness attributes. The tree plantation is another one those attributes of one of the new  wilderness areas, for 90% of it was burnt to the ground and had to be replanted. Most areas of it don't look like a tree plantation, but where that photo was taken, the trees were planted parellel to the trail. Don

Well, I'm pretty sure that trail in in the new Roaring River Wilderness area, but I can't figure out which trail it is.  It doesn't look like a well used trail.
D
Don1, you are right. Too much phun.   So Rob, you are close enough. You win!   Indeed it is Ye Olde Cougar Trail.   Don2

So which side of the canyon was this on?  I've only been on the trail once, but this doesn't look familiar to me.  Although - the day I was on it was WET and foggy. I will look for a new photo.
D
Rob it was from the northside of the canyon that I took you down on that wet and soggy day. I haven't been back to that side of the trail since, putting in most of my efforts from the southside. Your GPS unit made the trip from the south this last summer with Kirk. So are you doing anything next summer, say Aug-Sept time, when the skeeters are gone. Maybe we can connect both portions of the trail together, a little over a mile to go, probably have to spend a night down Cougar Creek canyon to make it more enjoyable. Don

OK here is a photo from a lightly used, semi official trail - I believe it is in a wilderness area P1190087.jpg

Sounds of Two Rivers?
R
Wow - that was too easy......Yes, you are correct. Your turn!
D
You guys are too funny! Don is telling me that I need to "register". Hahaha! I do not know all the trails. I should. I will.   Don's wife of 32+ years. :) Jaci

Speaking of registering, Don1 will need a Wilderness sign in board at the Cougar trail heads. D.

dscf0562.jpg   What trail am I on. Clue: there is a lake in the picture.   D.

IMG002.jpgWill do Donavon, just as soon as the snowmelt allows access sometime around June. There is about a mile or so segment left to locate out in the middle of the Roaring River Wilderness that will hopefully be done this summer. This is truely a wilderness trail with some trailwork at the trailheads leading one into a wilderness experience like none other. Much work will need to be done, especially in the middle vague segments, so that hikers will be able to make it from one end to the other without circumstance. Don

Could that be High Lake?
D
I suppose it could be. If we were Titans.   No, not High Lake.
