Are you in anothe District by chance?
K
Is it cheating to look at your blog?  I noticed a picture on your blog that looks almost exactly the same. It looks like the photo here was taken later in the year. After perusing your blog further, I believe I've found the exact photograph you've posted here.

My guess is that he took a jaunt off the PCT on the Miller Trail and we are looking at Clackamas Lake. D

What's the history of the Miller Trail? What was its route? Did this area used to be in the Bear Springs Ranger District and what happened to it?
D
I believe it is basically new, running on parts of the route to the Guard Station.   The old routes around there met at Timothy Meadows, which is now flooded, but helping keep our computers running and lighting parking lots. I have found the old south route and the west route leaving the lake. Both quickly fade into clear cuts.   It's all out of District so I have not been there much apart from some time keeping the lights and water going at the Guard Station rental for the Guests.   Kirk, I don't have access to the blog you mention. Is that Clackamas Lake?   D.
K
Yes, according to Bryon's blog, it is Clackamas Lake. I was looking at my map of the CRRD and it looks like the division with Zigzag is somewhere right in that area. I assume that all of the facilities in that area are administered by Zigzag since Timothy Lake seems to be in their district. Here's a link to Bryon's blog: http://clackamas-outlook.blogspot.com/search/label/Hiking I think his blog is really well done and interesting. I'll have to read more of it when I have time. I wouldn't have figured out where his picture was taken if it hadn't been on his blog. I haven't been to Clackamas Lake in my recollection. It looks like it's an interesting area.

So who is going to post the next photo? On another note, has anyone gotten out recently?  The window for the higher elevations is quickly closing.
K
I nominate Donovan because he identified the last picture. It's really warm and windy this morning. This weather ought to melt some snow until it cools down again.
R
I'm taking Wednesday off (it is supposed to be really nice), to try and sneak in one last high elevation trip.  I'm thinking about heading up to Bull of the Woods lookout (#550) to see if I can see more of the fire damage.  I haven't been on that trail for a few years......
D
OK then. Here is another picture for you all. In a wilderness.

Not that I have a photo for a follow up but you are looking down the Roaring River at the terminus of the #507 Corral Springs Trail.   –Paul

Very good Paul. Your prize is that you get to find another picture for us to play with!   D

Well, I've not got much left so this should be easy… What trail takes you to this former lookout site?
R
It doesn't look familiar to me, however I think I know most of the former lookout sites and I don't remember a pile of rocks like that.  I'm going to take a guess and say it is the Shining Lake trail, and that is the old lookout site at the end of the road along Indian Ridge?

Hey Rob, We have a winner, it's all yours... --Paul

Wow.  I'm going to  have to dig a bit for a new photo....It will probably be a repeat (the trail, that is), but I'll try and do a new photo.
R
OK, here we go.  This was taken from a trail that has seen fire activity in its vicinity in the recent past.  I hope that isn't too much of a hint....
Z
I think I know this one, I was just out there a couple weeks ago.  Looks like one of the swithbacks on the 542 trail down to Skookum Lake.  That area is one of my fave's.
R
Zack: You are correct!  You can see the pink tape still in the photo from the fire crews a couple of years ago.  Last time I was up there, it was still there.  You get to post the next picture!

And did you guys climb down to see if what seems like a cave is a cave?   Donovan
