Hello, my article and photos are in the Sept. 2012 issue of VW Camper & Bus!  My first time getting published no less. What does this have to do with the Clackamas?  Have you lost your mind, Bob? Hey Bob! Congratulations on your article!  Things sure have been quiet around here lately.....I think I may have seen you last weekend up at Twin Springs.  I hiked the east end of Old Baldy and when I got to the end, I saw a VW Camper parked next to the trail just off the road and when I went out to the road I saw another one up at Twin Springs.  I would have stopped to say hi, but I was kind of in a hurry to turn around and get back down to Squaw Meadows.  It was a great hike.

use the "zoom" feature of your browser - Usually Ctrl and + keys will zoom in - repeat until you see the text in a readable size.  A little blurry, but readable.

D'oh! Just click on the pages, they will open in a new window, all deluxe and larger to read.  Try to guess where the pics are taken. It's not exactly news to Oregonians, we've all been down 26 anyway.  But they do want me to do another article on the backwoods, maybe 4611 would make a good feature.  Man what a road. Great article Bob! I finally got to read it on the newest link you posted. So should we expect to see more VW vans rolling into the area anytime soon? I didn't know you could WRITE. I had to write for college papers, mostly scientific stuff, but not like that. Good job man. Remember that I am still looking for a late 60's camper VW van like yours. These rigs rock! They have a higher ground clearance than my Ford Explorer, and are narrower to snake thru our non-maintained roads of the Clackamas River district that get brushy at times. Kind of like our trails. Thanks Don!  Yeah I can write pretty well but I hate tooting my own horn.  Who made me anyway?  Can't take too much credit.  But I DO have to promote the biz so it's a fine line. I will keep my eyes peeled for a bus.  We talk all kinds of crap after a few beers, who knows?   Most of my friends have later Buses, higher HP/bigger engines but a lot more $$ for parts etc.  Heads are getting scarce - $400+ each!  My bus has the Beetle engine, less HP but cheaper parts and more availability.  But in the woods, both are equal.  On another note, SNOW this weekend at 3000' BLEAH.  I hope it melts soon.
