You are good!  It's not Timber Lake, but it's in that "area".  I think the trails around there pass by about 20 lakes, so you have your work cut out for you. Here's a hint: the picture was taken a little off of the trail near a nice camp site.

Top Lake has a good camp with a similar view of the Butte

Again, I must excuse myself on this one.  I wasn't there, but I'm very sure I know where and when this photo was taken.

I must agree, it does look like the view from the west side of Top Lake.   Ha! I've tricked you with the clouds. That is not the butte. The hill you see behind the lake tops out about 1,000' lower than the butte. You've backtracked, you'll need to go back whence you came and continue on the previous heading to find me.

Last time I posted a picture from this area you thought Top Lake was Monon Lake. I think you're mistaken again.  Go ahead, punk, make my day.

I think if it's Sheep Lake, that is Twin Peaks. But if Averil it's Double Peaks in the mist. I just can't remember.    Either way, Red Lake Trail?   Don2

Hurrah! You've found me! The photo was taken near the campsite on the northwest side of Averill Lake, on a rather cool day for early July, if I remember correctly. You are our current champion! For those of you who guessed please accept a gold star as your consolation prize. Better luck next time! Hey Rob, two demerits for you for not telling us what your guess was. You were there when the photo was taken. If you tell us what your guess was, then I'll take the demerits back.  

OK, OK, I'll take my demerits.  I was thinking that looked like the campsite at Monon Lake.  I guess I have Monon Lake on the brain or something.  Once you said it was Averill Lake, I can see exactly where that was now.  That was the trip with the big excitement, huh?

Consider your demerits cancelled.  I can understand why you didn't recognize the photo. There are a lot of lakes up there with peaks or buttes near them. Maybe next time I will post a photo of Monon, and you'll be so spooked that I'll get you again.

Double Peaks That is the only trail I've been on that has those huge boulders at the top like that.

That was my first impression too.  I think that's Pyramid Butte on the right there.
