So I don't know where to put this question so hopefully this is ok. I'm involved in a new project along the Clackamas River to be located just upstream of Lazy Bend Campground. We are looking for a good name for the site. I was hoping for something that would relate to the history or geography of that area but really, anything interesting in the Clackamas district might work. The name doesn't necessarily have to be river-related. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.   pete

Probably not a hydro plant.   I would guess boat ramp/parking area or something.   How about "Voyageur" in honor of the great river mariners who helped create Oregon as we know it. D 2

Sorry for the delay. The project is just an improved access area for boating at MP35 which is about a mile upstream of Lazy Bend Campground. Nothing major but will have a bathroom and parking as well as a better trail to the river. I think it will turn out nice and add to the river experience up on the Clack. Eventually a couple other sites will be improved as well but no more than 3. Some additional information signs will be placed, hence the need for a decent name. thanks!

No, Toilet Bowl is about MP 37. This is a couple miles downstream. There is already a large dirt area next to the river so the plan is to improve this area. Hopefully will take some pressure off the small area just below Toilet Bowl at MP 37 which gets pretty crowded late in the summer.

Ah gotcha. That'll be nice to have another option to park when floating the river.

Toilet Bowl is kind of a silly name for a site.

Every river I've ever been on commercially seems to have a Toilet Bowl rapid. Customers seem to be fascinated with that name. It's a silly name for the rapid on the Clack since it's just big waves. Actually most of the rapids on the Clack are pretty boring so it would be nice to at least have one site that had an interesting, creative, historical name. I like the Chinook words, Brian. That is an attractive way to go in my mind. Will see what the rest of the planning group thinks.

You may wish to get an opinion from the The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, which includes the Clackamas Tribe. I think the Indian name thing is getting old. How about, "Waterworks"? It would be the only thing named in the drainage celebrating the set aside of land and development and continuing impact and interest in the OC Waterworks. D 2
