I thought that I would start another "What trail am I on?" to start some more talk on this website that seems rather quiet lately. This photo was from last summer's outings, so I know a couple of you were with me when this photo was shot, so shut up or at least delay your response to give others a chance. It is from an abandoned trail in our district.

I have to update my earlier posting. This trail is actually in another district, but access is from our district and it's all wilderness up there.

The dog would happen to be looking for a Hambone would it?   D

D., Murphy looks for that hambone every time we are in the area. It's not the Hambone Trail, but you are in the right area. Great views from along the ridge. Don

I should have also mentioned that the butte in the background with the rockslide on it is Hambone Butte. The knoll to the right in the foreground I don't think has a name but the trail in question goes over it.

Well I'd say you are on the Aboriginal Trail, still east of the drop to Salmon Lake.   D.

So that's what they call that trail. I was calling it the Salmon Lake Trail. Awesome views up there and we even saw a mountain goat on top of Iron Mtn. Hope to get out there again this summer to do more exploring, trails, trails, everywhere. So this means you get to post one or we can open it up to anyone if you don't have one. Don

 an old road, where?

I'm not sure this is correct, but it looks similar to the old "fishermans trail" up the north side of the North Fork of the Clackamas (right off North Fork reservoir  - WOW that is a lot of "north"s!)

Well my first guess is that that could be almost "Anywhere" in the west cascades north of Roseburg. But I assume it is in the District. So my second suspicion is that it is on the Water Works road, South Fork.   D.

So is it actually a road or is it a railroad grade?

Sorry I have been working long hours, haven't had time to get on the computer the past couple days. You guys are on the right track.  Abandoned that is.  It's all about the pipeline, isn't it?

In those days you really needed a STRONG upper body. Do you need more clues?  Is this thing on?

I still have no idea where this is, but based on your clue, it must be somewhere near Armstrong campground?

Because you were a quick silver miner you needed the plus upper body? the mine at the end of the road?   D 2

This here road used to be a trail, then a RR grade, now it's nothing.  No quicksilver.
