What trail am I on? - Part 2
I moved this to a new topic since it seems there is a bug in the "recent forum posts" where it won't pick up new postings for long topics if you aren't logged in.
I have two ideas - My first guess is the Whetstone trail?

Rob it isn't the Whetstone trail. And Robert, it isn't the Thunder Mtn Trail either.
Here is another clue: The trail is a short destination trail off of a long through trail.

I was wondering when you were going to post. I figured if I used the picture of Mt Jefferson from the top it would have been way too easy. The view of Mt Hood through the trees made it a little harder, except for you. You are correct, it is the The Hawk Mtn Trail 564-A.

That one crossed my mind, but I didn't know there was a place on the trail that looked North.
I'm just learning all sorts of new stuff about these trails!
At first I had no idea but the the well managed units gave it away, small clearcuts nicely dispersed, the big Clackamas canyon in the distance, Burnt Granite.
I'll see if I can find another picture.

Another lake trail. This one with pink flowers along the shore. I am going to make a wild guess.
This has the shape and feel of Summit Lake.
Wow. That's pretty good. Trail "X". Plus the only place in the District I have seen such nice flowering heath (or whatever it is).
Two nice, old, camps there.
Don, Summit Lake was a good surmise. Real good.

OK, here is the next one. It is on a current district trail and not in a wilderness area.

What is the name of that Lake? Or does it have a name? I don't see a name on any of the maps I have, but it is described as Cripple Lake on the info page here.

Rob , Summit Lake is 6-7 miles south of Clackamas Lake just off the 42 road. Donavon was showing me an abandoned trail that goes south of the lake and heads over the ridge on to Warm Springs Meadow. The lake looks very similiar to the one he posted, Cripple Lake.

Is that one of the small ponds off the Cottonwood Meadows Trail? Or my second guess would be a pothole on the 4610 road, especially where the offroad people have played in it with their rigs and carry the mud back to town, leaving a hole to collect rainwater.

Nope, this is a small pond right on a trail. Not on the cottonwood meadows trail. You need to look farther south.

Is it in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area? I see that there are some lodgepole pine trees around the pond.
