Has anyone been out there recently near Huxley?  Any snow, down trees, or slides? Thank you!  Betcha a kadre o' kayakers have been there.  That road seems to be a survivor.

It's clear to the end but it does seem to be getting slowly worse.  Trees are starting to choke off the road and some of the mud holes are sketchy.  #517 to the bottom is still magnificent though.  Did some clearing.  How does that trail survive in such good condition?  Amazing. Almost got stuck in a mud pit I had no business going down at the end of 4611. 

Hey, does anyone have a map or knowledge of the logigng RR up on LaDee?  I read that masters thesis which is great, but leaves me wanting to know more.  It seems that the end of 4611 had some sort of facility there, maybe a water tank or loading deck and cabin.  I didn't find any big artifacts in the woods however. Given the amount of mess up there...........

I tried to go to Huxley Lake via Road 4610 on Sunday, but there was too much snow on the road. I made it to the area where the red soil starts on the left, then had to back down so I could turn around. Someone else had done the same thing. If I'd had snowshoes with me I would have done that. I'll try again later. I didn't post last summer after asking about the Sugar Pine Botanical area in The Bull of The Woods wilderness. I went; it was a bust. It had been logged out and new trees about ten foot high was all there was. No giant cones as I'd hoped for.

  I was wondering if maybe we could contact the lady who did the Thesis and maybe she could shed some light on exactly where she found some of those artifacts.  I'm sure she would have some GPS coordinates.  I haven't finished the thesis, but it made for VERY interesting reading.  And some of those old photos were pretty cool too.

  Patti, I found some Sugar Pine cones along the road just before the Elk Lake Creek trailhead up the Collawash a few years ago. I bet the trees are still there, I just haven't been up there since the road has been reopened. Don

  I am planning to take corral springs trail #507 backpacking this afternoon. I hope the snow has cleared on 4610.   Ill let you know when we get back if we have issues....   Is 4610 road in too bad of shape for a honda?
