I was up exploring yesterday up on the Switch Creek Trail / Oak Grove Butte Trail for they unlocked the roads. I hiked down below the junction of the two trails and found more tread out across the clear cut almost to the otherside before it switches back down lower into the clear cut. I had to quit for it was getting late in the day. I flagged what tread I found out in the clear cut and hope to get back out there soon. They are scheduled to decommission a lot of roads in the area after the thinning of the stands, so my access to the trail is limited.

Anytime I am hiking on one of the old trails that has been abandoned I feel one with those who built and maintained the trails through the years, as well as those who used them back in the day.

Sharpening that crosscut the other day, the file slipped off a raker and gently nicked a cutting tooth - in EXACTLY the same spot a 1940s filer made the same mistake.  Kind of brings it all full-circle.
