Hiked this trail with some friends this past weekend. Got a late start so we only made it to the Dickey Lake 549 trail junction before we decided to turn back. Fantastic views of Mt Hood, Pansy Mountain, and Bull of the Woods. In the burn area prolific wild flowers add beautiful splashes of color to an otherwise bleak landscape and new trees have sprouted up everywhere.

Trail Conditions

The trail bed in this section is in pretty good shape and easy to follow but a challenge to hike due to 100+ trees down over the trail between the trailhead and 549 trail junction. FR 6340 past the fork with FR 6341 is rutted and overgrown in some sections but otherwise in OK shape and easily passable in high clearance vehicle.
